Type:
Julie Ronning Talbot works in traditional watercolor and silk painting. Starting with a careful drawing analyzing the structure of the subject, she then adds veils of color to evoke the romantic realism of the beauty around us.
From rust to roses, Talbot enjoys depicting weathered wood, rusty trucks or unfolding flower petals to an equal degree, dropping watercolor paint onto paper or dyes onto silk and watching the vibrant colors blend themselves until you can smell the flowers or feel the rust.
Living in Sedona has had a profound impact on Talbot’s use of color and the subject matter which abounds here in the high desert.
As a member of The Northern Arizona Watercolor Society (NAWS), the Sedona Arts Center (SAC) and the Sedona Visual Artists Coalition (SVAC) Talbot has been the recipient of numerous awards, the most recent being Best Of Show for Garden Party Girls in the NAWS 2020 Annual Exhibition.
