I am interested in the ways that the art-making process reveals effective methods and tools for navigating the life-making process. The messages include and are not limited to: staying open to the unknown, sitting with the ugly stages, being curious and exploratory, relishing in beauty and harmony, risking, and knowing when to stop.
My paintings emerge from an intuitive place, intermingling with my knowledge of color theory, composition, and painting techniques. Each piece is generated spontaneously, taking cues from my inner world and what I am drawn to in the moment. As a painting progresses I am interested in the interplay of form and the harmony of colors, while staying true to the organic forming of shapes and textures. Play, experimentation, movement and curiosity guide my process.

About the ArtistYour Tour Guide
Alissa Davies
I started making art when I was in preschool, guided by my Waldorf education, and the creative process has been a part of my life since. Growing up in Maine, I was fortunate to have artistic and supporting parents and went on to graduate from Smith College with a degree in Studio Art, focus in painting. I spent an informative junior year at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I was exposed to different art genres and mediums. I lived in Jackson, WY for 14 years before relocating in 2017 to Boulder, CO. I find great inspiration from the natural world, my inner soul space, and from watching my two young children make art.
