Milk Barn Studio - Tracy Vernon
Type:
Tags:
The Milk Barn Studio is located in the beautiful New England village of Montague, MA. Tracy and her husband purchased property in a spot surrounded by protected land with proximity to the Sawmill and Connecticut rivers. The property, at one time called the ‘Creamery’, was once a dairy farm with a large barn for cows, a modest home, and a small barn for storing milk. Tracy and her husband converted the milk barn into an art studio. The views from the studio offer glimpses of Tracy’s gardens, a meadow, and a generous slice of sky where you have front row seats to spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Within the studio are the materials and manifestations of Tracy’s array of fine art and design. As you walk through the door you are greeted by a visual feast of soft pastels, (pure pigment with a tiny bit of binder hand-rolled into sticks), mixed media art, watercolor and pastel paintings either in process or finished, and cards.

About the ArtistYour Tour Guide
Tracy L. Vernon
Having grown up in a family who values the arts, Tracy began drawing and painting at an early age. Frequenting galleries and museums trained her eye for composition, light, and color. Years of competitive tennis and a life-long love and career in dance instilled in her a sense of the importance of movement in art. Her formal training began as a fine art major at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In her junior year, she took her studies to the College of Art and Design in Exeter, England where she fell in love with plein air painting. In the years since college, she has travelled extensively through Europe, the Caribbean, and Africa embracing the learning that comes with painting real life in real time.
Currently, Tracy paints closer to home where there is an abundance of beauty in protected land, rolling hills, mountains, and waterways. Though a studied artist, she considers herself equally self-taught. She is an experienced and beloved teacher who enjoys sharing with others what she has learned through her years of exploration and skill development. She is a member of the Sawmill River Arts Gallery, a cooperative of working artists and fine crafts creators located in Montague, MA.
"In my paintings, I love to capture the dance of light and shadow, warm and cool temperatures, a variety of textures, and harmonious colors while conveying my love of the natural world. In my art and designs, I create a sense of balance that evokes a feeling of comfort and harmony. Whether it’s arctic turns flying across an ever-shifting sky, salt air blowing the reeds and rushes, well-worn paths leading to farms, fields, meadows, or forests, I am continually entranced by nature’s beauty. My work as an artist reflects this deep respect and affection."
