1.5 miles from the Taos, historic district. Howard’s studio is right off the 225 year-old Adobe house which was originally part of a land grant from the King of Spain in 1796. Currently working on combining a life-long love of birds with bold forms in representation on wood panels with enamel underpainting, sand, and add additional layers of acrylic paint, with sanding in between those layers as well. I feel the texture enhances the out-in-nature essence, and the imagery captures the whimsy of birds at play. So when asked what I will paint next, I say “I’m putting a bird on it”.
