My name is Mary Anne Hjelmfelt. Mare’s Art emerged after a graphic design career muted my creativity. My Fine Art degree focused on oils, so to change things up, I started to teach myself the vibrancy of acrylics. My paintings are created for the appreciation of peace and nature. I believe we need to find things that connect us, and that art, in whatever form we personally admire, has the capability to do that. My core subjects involve an aspect of nature, often a flower or scene, as a reminder to respect Earth. My mixed-media portfolio showcases layering my canvases with acrylic paint, interesting textured papers, and a variety of 3D materials. Giving the viewer that “I want to touch it!” feel.  I also offer personalized, commissioned portraits, both of the human and ‘fur’ kind. I love capturing the essence of loved ones through my drawing and painting.
