Executed in acrylic and mixed media, Cyndy Hinkelman-Smith is a professional artist in the Boulder area.  Playing with layers of color, textures, shapes, tools and subject matter, Cyndy lights up a canvas with expression, joy and zeal in a fresh modern way.  Inspired by the beauty of nature and the charm of everyday life, her work explores abstracted landscapes, weathered barns, florals, birds, animals, and life’s simple pleasures. Her painting journey began in 2011 at an intuitive abstract workshop at Chautauqua in Boulder, a pivotal experience that sparked her passion for painting. Since then, she has continued her passion for learning and curiosity through classes, workshops, and an artist residency in France in 2022.

Donating her artwork and time to local charities are a part of Cyndy's art practice including painting bears, birdhouses or a bench for the Colorado Chautauqua; or donating artwork to SPAN, Marshall Fire Relief, local school auctions, or others.

A lifelong resident of Boulder Cyndy is influenced by the beauty and natural world that surrounds her daily, especially when walking or hiking with her dogs.  She also enjoys camping, rafting, and skiing, cooking, gardening, photography and travel. Cyndy lives on five beautiful acres just east of Boulder with her husband, Greg, and their two dogs Tundra and Otis.
