I am a stained glass and mosaic artist who was born and raised on the central coast of California. Wild landscapes and moments in nature are the basis of my subjects, with a concentration in kelp forests and mountains around the world. The scenes I draw and then craft into stained glass panels are guided by nearly 3 decades of working and living outside as a field biologist, educator and outdoor adventurer. Being in wilderness makes me feel like my truest self. That freeing experience of being connected to the wild is hard to hold onto when I’m back in the thick of humanity. Creating landscapes and wild moments in glass helps me tap into those good feelings. My artwork provides a portal to daydream into another world.

Beginning as a self-taught glass artist in 2017, I have since studied a wide frame of glass arts including glass painting, kiln forming, glass blowing and cold working through workshops and mentorship. My studio practice is split between making autonomous hanging panels of stained glass and wall hanging mosaics for sale at art festivals and commission work for architectural projects for the home.

I find glass to be the ultimate medium that connects light and color, resulting in a dynamic image that changes all day long. I like the juxtaposition of using rigid sheet glass that tends to break in straight lines to create soft curves of rivers, mountains, and seaweed. Glass is at once fragile and enduring, a relevant metaphor for the places I convey in my art.
