I create artistic impressions of the early native American dwellings at my studio in my home in Sedona Arizona. Using found native woods to represent the cliffs and caves used by the tribes of the American Southwest and a man made stone I fabricate table top sized art sculptures.
The woods are carefully selected from found woods on the ground or from tree trimmings. I do not cut live trees to gather my wood source. The found wood is typically powered washed, sand blasted and sealed before typically mounted to a rotating base fabricated from recycled redwood salvaged from rebuilt decks.
The stones for the dwellings are made from a light weight cement molded in patterns created from the collection of hundreds of found local stone.
The dwellings are then sculpted into the prepared wood using the typical construction techniques of the early native inhabitants.

Philip Ronald Schneider aka P. Ronald Schneider, dwellerron
Trained as an Electrical Engineer a transfer to Arizona sparked my interest in creating art. The transfer to Arizona introduced me to the many native American ruins found in the four corner region of the American Southwest. Visits to and literature on the history and construction of the many ruin sites inspired me to replicate the sites and techniques in a three dimensional artistic representation.
I marveled at the ingenuity of the original builders who fabricated dwellings without the aid of fasteners. cutting tools or scaffolding.
