Christie Palmer’s uniquely singular acrylic paintings are a daring but confident fusion of landscape and abstraction. Both fleeting and studied images realign in her studio, evolving through dynamic interpretation, fluidity and freedom. Her exceptional eye for color and use of enigmatic shapes emphasize the mood of a moment. Speaking to the senses, her works are vital and alive yet harmonious and controlled.
Playing with the edges of paint and reality, Palmer’s paintings capture the ever-changing elements of place and time. Employing acrylic much like watercolor, and with the layering of infinite washes, her process achieves a richness of color built incrementally and patiently. As a painting nears completion, the resulting fluidity of its lines and glow of its washes emerge. Whether an expansive landscape or a small object, each is taken to heart in the personal and inspirational journey to a painting’s completion.
Awarded in numerous juried shows throughout the country, Christie is represented by the juried Sedona Arts Center Fine Arts Gallery. In private collections throughout the U. S. and abroad, her paintings are recognized by their purity of form, linear refinement, and impeccable technique.
